ERE1.3 – Supporting the Just Transition of Coal Regions: From Legacy to Sustainability
The session will focus on the scientific, technological, and socio-economic research needed to support coal and lignite regions in their transition towards sustainability, in line with the European Green Deal objectives. Topics include environmental restoration, reuse of mining infrastructure, greenhouse gas mitigation, CCUS, geothermal energy, and sustainable redevelopment of former coal regions.
